Parallel Reasoning
Overview
Parallel reasoning questions ask you to find an argument with the same logical structure. Focus on the pattern, not the topic.
1.Identify the argument's logical structure (e.g., All A are B, X is A, therefore X is B)
2.Match structure, not subject matter
3.Check: same type of conclusion? Same type of evidence? Same logical relationship?
4.Diagram if the argument uses conditional logic
All cats are mammals. Whiskers is a cat. Therefore, Whiskers is a mammal.
Which argument most closely parallels the reasoning?
Answer C:
Look for: "All X are Y. Z is an X. Therefore Z is a Y." The topic doesn't matter — match the logical form.
✗Matching by topic instead of structure
✗Ignoring differences in conclusion type
✗Failing to check all structural elements
